Colombian pianist Natalia Vanegas has received recognition in national and international competitions in Colombia, Costa Rica, and the United States. She has been invited to festivals and conferences such as the CIMA Festival in Manizales, the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano, the Piano Encounter in Costa Rica, the College Music Society, and the South Central Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference (SCRTEC). She has appeared as a soloist with the EAFIT Symphony Orchestra under José Escandell, as well as with the Camerata UdeA, the ArteCámara Orchestra, and the University of Memphis Student Orchestra.
She currently combines her artistic career with teaching. For five years, she taught group and private piano at the University of Memphis. Today, she works as a collaborative pianist at Arkansas State University and the University of Mississippi. She has also served as a judge in various competitions in Colombia and the U.S., and is co-director of the Memphis International Piano Festival.
Passionate about music by Colombian and Latin American composers, she has premiered several of their works and included them in her programming. Her debut album, Preludios Colombianos, features piano preludes by Adolfo Mejía and Guillermo Uribe Holguín.
Natalia earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Antioquia and completed both her master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Memphis.
