Fresh off their 18-month 50th Anniversary Tour, the iconic and profoundly influential Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, often cited as a catalyst for an entire movement in Country Rock and American Roots Music, continues to add to their legendary status.
With multi-platinum and gold records, strings of top ten hits such as “Fishin’ in the Dark” and “Mr. Bojangles,” multiple Grammy, IBMA and CMA awards and nominations, the bands accolades continue to accumulate.
Their 1972 groundbreaking album, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” has been inducted into the US Library of Congress as well as the Grammy Hall of Fame. NGDB’s recording of “Mr. Bojangles” was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2014, “Fishin’ in the Dark” was certified platinum for digital downloads by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Now in their 52nd year together, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden and Bob Carpenter continue their non-stop touring schedule. Recent tour stops included appearances at the Stagecoach Festival, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival and many more. On September 14, 2015, NGDB played to a sold-out crowd at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They were joined by close friends for the show, to film a 50th Anniversary Special that began airing on PBS in March of 2016. The PBS special earned a 2016 Emmy for Special Event Coverage at the Mid South Regional Emmy Awards.
