The Masterworks Choir and the Florence Symphony Orchestra join forces to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, first performed in Vienna, May 7, 1824. Mr. Tambourine Man not only lived history, he made history with his fearless sense of experimentation. As the leader of the influential 60s group, The Byrds, he was on the leading edge, combining the rock beat of the Beatles with the folk sensibilities of Bob Dylan, to create the genre known as “folk-rock” His groundbreaking work on The Byrds “Sweetheart Of The Rodeo” album, is widely credited with ushering in the genre of country rock. Roger’s solo career began in 1973 and has yielded 13 albums, a Grammy nomination, and extensive touring and performing for enthralled audiences ever since.

FSO Rocks is back! On May 30, Dr. Terry Roberts along with the Florence Symphony Orchestra will perform a classic rock concert featuring hits from Tom Petty, Boston, The Pretenders, Dire Straits, The Who, Eric Clapton and more. The legendary Mike Keneally will be the featured guitarist. Keneally, a former Frank Zappa guitarist, will be joined by fellow rocker and FMU professor Brandon Goff on guitar. Vocalists include local choral professor Fran Coleman, Florence Little Theater main-stays Cole Davis and Christian Rodgers and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Leigh Montague. VIP and sponsorship opportunities are available.
